Syd died of a malignant tumour on his kidney, & secondary bone cancer!
Syd was one of 6 children, 2 boys of who died at a very young age, & 3 Sisters, the late Eileen, &
still living Iris & Joan! His late parents were Steve & Violet Smallcombe!
Syd was born 12th July 1923 in one of Tyler Steet Huts at Wincobank in the middle of a storm, & was
therefore nicknamed stormy! He met his lovely wife to be" Evelyn" in an air -aid shelter in the
middle of an air raid
in the early 1940s, after his marriage to Evelyn they went on to have 5 children Carole, Christine,
Stephen, Diane & Mark! During his younger life Syd served in the British Army! As the years went on
he became a long distant lorry driver, he at that time was also a semi professional singer, & spent
many years singing on the club curcuit! Many years later he purchased a black hackney taxi cab, &
was still doin a bit if driving & working the taxi radio well into his seventies! His passion for
singing was a great influence on all us children & our Mum because we all love music & singing,
unfortunately none of us followed in his footsteps! When we were all together we would have some
lovely singsongs, & Syd always gave us a spot at family partys He was a true gentleman, with a heart
big enough to fill a bucket! Wherever he went he filled the room with the warmth & love that he
showered everyone with! He died with great dignity, after suffering so much pain, thats why we could
never wish him back to suffer again!
Awaiting were the Angels, that took you by the hand, & guided you to your place of rest, in the beautiful Promised land. Love & miss you more each day Dad xxx

I can't believe it's 6 years today that we laid you to rest, it only seems like yesterday we bade you farewell for the last time. You are never far from my mind Dad, & will be in my heart forever. The memories of bygone days linger still, & you will never be forgotten. Loving you for always, forgetting you never.Miss you so much Dad. Your baby girl Diane xxx

A very special Dad i tried so hard to keep, i watched you suffer daily, until you fell asleep, the pain i've learned to live with, the tears i never show, the emptiness without you, no.one will ever know!

Oooooh Dad why did you have to leave us! I miss you soooooooooo much as we all do!Mum is lonely without you, but coping brilliantly & as you know it was her 85th Birthday yesterday!I love to sit in your chair Dad i can feel the warmth of you all around me, & i miss you massaging my neck Dad, with your healing hands!We will be visiting your grave for Christmas! I hope you are singing Carols up there above! Miss you lots & lots! Love you forever xxxx
My Daddy's magic, he's got a tree, where he grows money for Mummy & me.He's got tools & he can mend toys stuck in the toilet U bend. My Dad has got a secret cask, where he keeps hiscloak & mask. He saves the World & fetches my ball, when i've kicked it over next doors wall. My Dad he only ever gets mad, when i do something really bad.Like when i was really mean & i stiched the cats tail with the sewing machine. But most of the time he stays calm & protects my family from all harm. There is no better Dad & it's true, that i really, really, really Love You xxx
I miss your sence of humour, your singing & your wit, our family cups of tea, & a scone to go with it. Well Dad another year has crept upon us making it 6 years now. It still seems like yesterday that you left us.

When God was making Fathers, as far as i can see, he spent alot of time on one, & gave that one to me. If i could have just one wish, i know what it would be, to hear your voice, to see your smile, to hold you next to me.
Look for an Angel, who stands out a mile, with beautiful eyes, & a wonderful smile, tell him i love him,& that life is not the same, but we will meet him in Heaven someday again xxx
Christmas
Christmas time is here again, but without you it's just not the same. Oh how i wish that you were here, to join in all the Christmas cheer. You loved this time so very much, you always gave it your magical tough. But now your'e gone, & i remain, christmas will never be the same! God bless Dad, love you always xxx
